I recently had an older J24 fall in my lap. It needs some keel repair and while working with epoxy on the keel I figured I might as well try my hand at fairing the keel and rudder. However I cannot find templates or even the measurements of templates. Anyone have them I could pay shipping and borrow? Anyone have a file with measurements of them? Anyone have anything I can use? Please help.

Maybe the class magazine should get a pro to write a definitive article on J-24 keel fairing. It's not that hard to do the job, but once you're done, and have invested maybe 40 hours of work and $300-$500, you want the keel to "measure in". Maybe the class could get some money from West Epoxy to sponsor the writer.

Aloha Scott On this J24 class site there is a menu bar at the top. Look under "Organization", you will see a selection list. Choose "Rules" under that will be a short list of PDF files. Choose the third one down called "Rules". In this document toward the end are several drawings. Included among them are one for the rudder and one for the keel. There is a table of offsets you can use to lay out the appropriate curves. Maybe that will work for you. If not, for further help I have been restoring my 1979 hull. Eventually I will get around to putting the pictures up on my web site. But for now some of them are on my FaceBook profile. Search FaceBook for Bill Barnfield. I will "friend" anyone who requests it. You can view the photos and ask questions. I am just starting on stripping the bottom and repairing the keel. My new rudder is finished except for final paint. There will be a lot of work on the keel. I will post photos as I go along.
